• APPLICATION FAQs

  When is the Bank of America Chicago 13.1?
  The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 will take place on Sunday, June 6, 2027. A two-day Packet Pick-up will be held prior to the race on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5.

  How can I sign up to run the Bank of America Chicago 13.1? 
  Registration for the 2027 Bank of America Chicago 13.1 will open later this year. Sign up for the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 newsletter to be notified when registration opens for the 2027 event.

  Is there an application deadline?
  Registration for the 2027 Bank of America Chicago 13.1 will remain open until event capacity is reached.

  What are the requirements to participate?
  The following are the requirements to participate in the Bank of America Chicago 13.1:

  • Participants must be 14 years or older on race day.
  • Participants 14-17 years of age must have permission from their parent or legal guardian permitting them to participate in the race. This permission is given during the application process.
  • The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 requires that participants be able to complete the 13.1-mile distance in three hours and 15 minutes (3:15:59). The course will reopen for public use on a rolling schedule based on this time limit.
  • The sale and/or transfer of race entries/bib numbers is strictly prohibited.
  • All registration fees and ancillary purchases are nonrefundable.
  • All participants must be familiar with and abide by the event rules.

   

  Can anyone sign up to run or is it an application? 
  The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 is open to participants on a first-come first-served basis.

  I am injured and/or cannot run the event (family commitment, work obligation, etc.). Can I get a refund, donate my entry or transfer my entry to someone else?
  No. Per our event rules: The sale and/or transfer of race entries/bibs is strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification and/or banning of any individuals involved from future events.

  When will future runnings of the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 take place?
  View anticipated dates for future runnings of the Chicago 13.1. Please note that these dates are subject to change.

• PARTICIPANT INFORMATION FAQs

  How can I change my registration information?
  Participants can change limited registration information through their participant account.

  What time does the race start? 
  The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 wheelchair division race will start at 6:50 a.m. followed by the open division race start at 7 a.m.

  Can I walk the Bank of America Chicago 13.1?
  Participants must be capable of maintaining a 15-minute per mile pace (approximately) or faster, completing the full race distance (13.1 miles)—start line to finish line—within the event time requirement of three hours and 15 minutes.

  What participant amenities do you offer on course? 
  Aid stations are located along the course approximately one to two miles apart. Each aid station consists of the following amenities in this order:

  • Medical Support
  • Toilet facilities
  • Nuun Endurance
  • Water

   

  How can I pick up my bib number? 
  Event bib numbers must be picked up at Packet Pick-up on Friday, June 4, 2027, and Saturday, June 5, 2027. The location and hours of operation for Packet Pick-up will be announced in advance of race day. Participants who sign up and pay for race day Packet Pick-up can pick up their race materials starting at 5:30 a.m. on race day.

  Will I be able to check my gear? 
  Yes. Gear check will be available for registered participants to drop off and pick up their gear the morning of the race.

  What if I lose something at the race? 
  Lost and found items collected throughout race weekend will be available for pickup at information tents. If you are looking for an item that was lost, please ask an information volunteer for instructions on how to claim your item.

  Will there be a pace team? 
  Yes. The pace team will pace groups of participants according to the following finish times: 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00.

  Does the event provide private lactation spaces for postpartum participants?
  Yes. Private lactation spaces will be available for registered participants race weekend. Participants are asked to indicate their interest in using a private lactation space by emailing office@chicago13point1.com. Additional information about private lactation spaces will be made available on the event website before the event.

  Does the event offer ASL interpretation services to deaf or hard of hearing participants?
  Yes. Sign language interpreters will be available race weekend to assist participants who may need to utilize their service. Additional information on ASL interpretation services will be available in advance of race day.

• TRAVEL FAQs

  What is the best way to get to the Bank of America Chicago 13.1?
  The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) offers an economical and convenient way to get to and from Garfield Park on race day. For the most up-to-date travel information and to learn how to use the CTA bus and rail system, visit transitchicago.com.

  Where can I find information about race day street closures? 
  Street closure information for the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 will be available in advance of race day. Visit the Course & amenities page to sign up to be notified about street closure information.

  Is there race day parking?
  Public transportation, biking or rideshare services are the most convenient way to access Garfield Park. If you plan to drive, please note legal street parking is available. We encourage you to review event street closures and obey all posted signs regarding permitting and other parking regulations.

  Is there bike valet?
  Yes. Additional information about the bike valet will be available in advance of race day.

  Where is the rideshare drop off on race day?
  Participants utilizing rideshare to access Garfield Park on race day will be dropped off at a designated location. Information teams and directional signage will help guide event attendees to the start line and Race Day Festival area.

• FESTIVAL & PACKET PICK-UP FAQs

  Where is Packet Pick-up located? 
  Participant Packet Pick-up will take place on Friday, June 4, 2027 and Saturday, June 5, 2027. The location and hours of operation for Packet Pick-up will be announced in advance of race day. You must attend the Participant Packet Pick-up to pick up your participant packet, participant bag, Nike participant shirt and any pre-purchased beer tickets (if applicable).

  If I can’t go to Packet Pick-up, can I pick my packet up race day? 
  Race day Packet Pick-up will be available to purchase on a first-come first-served basis at the point of registration. This opportunity will be available to the first 600 participants who select and pay for this option.

  When will I receive my Packet Pick-up ticket email? 
  Participants can expect to receive their Packet Pick-up ticket email approximately one week before the 2027 event.

  Can someone pick up my packet for me?
  Yes. Friends or family may pick up your packet on your behalf by providing a copy of your Packet Pick-up ticket.

  What is the Race Day Festival? 
  The Race Day Festival is a celebration of participants and the community, featuring a mix of fitness and lifestyle activities. For more information on the Race Day Festival, visit the  Race Day Festival page.

  Does it cost money to go to the Race Day Festival? 
  No. The Race Day Festival is free and open to the public.

  What are the hours of the Race Day Festival? 
  The Race Day Festival will take place from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  Is the Race Day Festival for participants only? 
  No. The Race Day Festival is free and open to the public.

• START LINE & FINISH FAQs

  Where is the start line located?
  The start of the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 is located in Chicago’s Garfield Park on Central Park Avenue.

  What time does the race start? 
  The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 wheelchair division race will start at 6:50 a.m. followed by the open division race start at 7 a.m.

  Where is gear check?
  Gear check will be available for registered participants to drop off and pick up their gear the morning of the race. Gear check venues will be located near the start area in Garfield Park.

  Where is the finish line located? 
  The finish of the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 is located in Chicago’s Garfield Park on Madison Street.

  Can friends and family access the finish line? 
  Family and friends are encouraged to meet participants following the race at the Race Day Festival in Chicago’s Garfield Park.

• COURSE FAQs

  What is the course time limit? 
  The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 has a course time limit of three hours and 15 minutes. You must maintain a 15-minute per mile pace (approximately) or faster, completing the full race distance (13.1 miles)—start line to finish line—within the event time requirement. Those who finish outside of the time limit will not be recorded as official finishers and may not receive full on-course support from aid stations and traffic safety personnel.

  How many aid stations are on the course?
  Eight aid stations are located along the course approximately one to two miles apart. For more information on the course, visit the  Course & amenities page.

  What if I get hurt while running? 
  Medical support is available at on-course aid stations to support participants, except Aid Station 1.

  Can I run with my water bottle? 
  Participants will be able to run with fuel belts and hand-held water bottles only.

  Can I run with headphones? 
  Music devices with headphones are permitted for use on the course; however, participants must always be alert to their surroundings and must pay attention to important announcements made throughout the day.

  What is not allowed on the course? 
  A list of prohibited devices on course is available on the Event rules page.

• POST-RACE & RESULTS FAQs

  Will there be a post-race party after?
  Yes. Participants are encouraged to celebrate their accomplishment with friends and family at the Race Day Festival in Garfield Park.

  Where will I be able to see my results?
  You can find your race finish by searching by your name or event bib number on the race results page.

• VOLUNTEER FAQs

  How can I sign up to be a volunteer?  
  Individuals interested in volunteering will be able to view available volunteer opportunities on the volunteer page when volunteer registration opens in 2027.

  When can I register to be a volunteer?  
  Volunteer registration for the 2026 Bank of America Chicago 13.1 will open in the spring of 2027.

  Is there an age limit to volunteer? 
  Volunteers must be 14 years or older on race day. Volunteers 14-17 years of age must have permission from their parent or legal guardian permitting them to volunteer at the race. This permission is given during the application process.
